I hope everyone had a great Holiday Season & Happy New Year to all.
I want to congratulate Kirk McCaskill, the 2016 Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club Match Play Champion & runner up Tim Foley. The final was held Sunday morning 12/18 & the hardy few who braved the cold to watch the battle were rewarded with stellar play by the combatants.
Kirk took a quick 3 up lead after 4 holes only to lose the next 2 but held on for a 5 & 3 victory. Kirk had to win 5 matches over the last 2 months to become the inaugural champion & a perpetual plaque will soon be placed in the Golf Clubhouse with the champions name engraved. The tournament was very well received & I am sure we will have no problem filling the field next year.
Kirk won $1600, Tbird $800, & the two semi-finalists Paul Collier & Rich Reasons $400 each. I am sure the their caddies, Kenyon Clark for Foley & Scott Thurman for McCaskill were well compensated from the winnings. Thank you to all participants.
